Frequently Asked Questions

What is an audio transducer?
A device that converts input energy of one form into output energy of another.

How does the Hidden Audio Systems Transducer produce sound?
Hidden Audio Systems transducers produce sound by directing sound energy into the solid material they are attached behind. The solid material acts as a carrier for the sound energy, passing the sound into the air.  The air molecules are energized by their contact with the sound-radiating surface and the air transfers the sound to your ear.

Will my walls and ceiling move like the cone of a conventional speaker?
No.  Hidden Audio Systems technology produces sound through resonation, rather than vibration. The walls and ceiling will move no more than a 1/32 of an inch.  This is less than the movement you experience from expansion and contraction due to heat and moisture changes within your home.

Will screws pop out of the drywall or will it cause the drywall to crack?
No.  Walls and ceilings, with Hidden Audio Systems transducers behind them, will not move more than a 1/32 of an inch.

What happens if a transducer breaks behind the wall?
The part of any conventional speaker system most susceptible to damage is the speaker cone and surround.  Hidden Audio Systems do not have either of these components.  Hidden Audio Systems transducers are tested by the factory prior to shipping and again in your home prior to installation by a certified Installer.  The innovative and proprietary Hidden Audio Systems transducer is much less likely to experience any failures than your built-in plumbing behind the wall.  The protection is provided for the Hidden Audio Systems transducer through an inline circuit breaker.  These breakers interrupt the flow of electrical audio current to the sound unit in the event that it were to receive too much power.  The circuit breaker automatically resets itself when the circuit cools down.

What about the Hidden Audio Systems warranty?
Every Hidden Audio Systems transducer is tested before it leaves the factory and again by a certified Hidden Audio Systems installer before installation.  Our products are warranted to be defect-free from the manufacturer and carry a limited lifetime warranty.

How are they installed?
No competing product is easier to install.  Other audio products might tout the “invisible” motif, but they require perfect installation conditions and additional layers of installation labor that slows the building process and adds significant labor expense.  With Hidden Audio Systems the installation is a single step process performed before drywall installation. The minute drywall is hung, your walls can be “singing."

How much do they cost?
Any “invisible” audio installation is perceived as a premium priced installation because of its unique and uncompromising appeal.  Hidden Audio Systems installation will compare favorably in price with mid-priced conventional speaker installations.  We shatter the pricing paradigm of competing “invisible” and “stealth” products.  For architectural audio systems appeal, Hidden Audio Systems is the best value.
